Republic Day 2016: Priyanka Chopra sings special Jai Gangaajal version of National Anthem (Watch video)

On the occasion of the 67th Republic Day of India being celebrated on January 26, 2016, Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra shared a special version of the Indian National Anthem Jana Gana Mana. “Proud to be Indian & so thankful for everything this wonderful nation has given me!Happy Republic Day,” she said on Facebook. The video has been created by the Jai Gangaajal team of Prakash Jha Productions. This version of the National Anthem is a tribute to the women in the police force. It features some female cops along with Priyanka Chopra and director Prakash Jha. The anthem has been sung by Priyanka Chopra.
This is done as a promotional for Jai Gangaajal, in which Priyanka Chopra stars in the lead role of a no-nonsense police officer. The film is a sequel to the director’s Gangajal in which Ajay Devgn starred as the protagonist. It’s interesting to note that the sequel has a female in the lead role. Priyanka has recently starred in quite a few films that had her as the main or one of the main female characters, including Mary Kom, Dil Dhadkne Do and Bajirao Mastani. She also stars in the lead of American TV show Quantico as FBI agent on the run Alex Parrish.
The National Anthem version of Jai Gangaajal reminds us of a similar effort by the team of Rani Mukerji’s film Mardaani in which she played a strong police officer. Watch the Jai Gangaajal video National Anthem – Tribute To Women In Police Force here and tell us which one you like better!
