Bollywood actor Aamir Khan once again
grabbed eye balls for his statement on nationalism and tolerance.
However, this time we seem to have accepted the positive take on the
country from the actor. The Dangal star on Aap Ki Adalat said
India is very tolerant although there are people who spread distress in
the community. He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look
into the issue. Even after being taken down from as the brand ambassador
of government’s tourism project, Incredible India he said that he still
continued to the brand ambassador of India. Talking on the show, Khan
said, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread
ill-will…Those who speak of breaking up this vast country, such people
are present in all religions, only Modiji can stop them. After all,
Modiji is our PM, we have to tell him.”
The actor recently garnered the
attention after his statement on intolerance in India was highly
criticised. Bollywood was also divided on the issue with actors like
Anupam Kher and Akshay Kumar talking sternly against Aamir Khan’s strong
viewpoints. He along with his wife Kiran Rao were asked to leave India
for not being patriotic. Khan also clarified that he was wrongly quoted
and said,”I never said India was intolerant, I was wrongly quoted…To say
about rising intolerance and to say India is intolerant are two
different things.
